Augusta's KROC Salvation Army Fitness Center is a really nice place, for now. I give it 6 years before its in disarray due to corrupt management in downtown Augusta from working it over...regardless, I've applied for a Fitness and Health Management position to tide me over through my PhD.
In other news but a slightly related topic, the Medical College of Georgia changed its name recently to Georgia Health Sciences University...personally I think they were better off they way they were. Anyways, they are hiring for about ten Research Assistants in the mid $20-30s per year, I applied for three of these that fit...just have to wait and see I suppose.
Other than the job situation I'm just waiting for my Thesis Committee Chairman to finish editing my Literature Review so I can submit my informed consent and proposal for Institutional Review Board acceptance so I can start collecting date this summer, analyze the data in the fall and easy breezy graduate with my Masters of Science in December 2011...12 months in a Master's program was my goal and I'm very close to achieving it...now about that pesky job situation.
(In my best Emperor Palpatine voice) Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design...with a little help from God...okay so more than a little, most of it..anyways my scheme was this:
- Graduate with my BS Kinesiology---CHECK 2009
- Be accepted to a MS Kinesiology program---CHECK 2010
- Be offered a Graduate Assistantship, tuition waived and monthly stipend---CHECK 2010
- Graduate with my MS Kinesiology before 2012---LOOKS PROMISING-2011
- Acceptance into a PhD Biomechanics/Kinesiology program---
- Graduate from PhD within 4 years of start
Sometimes I wish I could go back to 2001 and REALLY give myself a grade A, German vs France beatdown...anyways, enough mindless meandering about the futility of hindsight...live and learn
Unfortunately two things I've done too much of.
